Exclamation Why wont Kies recognize Galaxy S2??

    Hi everybody.
I cant get Kies or my computer to recognize the samsung galaxy S2. If I connect the phone via USB cable to my computer without kies open, it keeps going in the connect/disconnect routine without stopping. It just keeps looping. If I plug in the phone with Kies open, I get the error message that I have to connect it in a different mode: "reconnect the device in Samsung Kies (PC Studio) mode. Current connection mode not supported by Kies."

I downloaded Kies while in America, but now I am in England going to school. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that connects to my computer and to Kies flawlessly.

I just got a notification that kies needed to be upgraded, so I did that and still no luck. How can I get this phone play fair with my computer? I have lots of pictures on my micro SD card, and I dont want to keep pulling out the card because the phones back cover is quite crappy and I dont want the tabs to wear out.

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!

    Cody

I had the same problem when I first bought my SGS2. You need to go to Settings, Applications, Development and make sure USB Debugging is turned off. Kies should then recognise your phone. God knows why this setting is turned on when you first buy the phone or why there is nothing telling you to do this. o_O

yeah I have played around with that, and it doesn't change anything. Still cant connect even with the Kies program closed. When I plug my tablet in the computer at least recognizes the tablet as a mass storage device, but not the damn phone.

Strange! I got the exact same error message as you described before I unchecked debugging. When you have debugging checked, does your pc recognise your SGS2 as a mass storage device?

Yup. My home computer recognises my SII but my work computer with similar settings doesn't. It's just the wonder that is Kies

    I have a similar problem

Today I updated Kies and when when I connected via USB there was also a phone update (from version 7 to 11 I think).

Now my connection also just loops. I've tried the trouble shooting section (although I think that's only to locate the driver), I've restarted both phone and PC and I've used the Tools section on Kies for Firmware Upgrade Settings and that does nothing.

Kies-Air works okay but I prefer to use USB.

One difference I have noticed is that before the update my phone would say don't press the home button or you'll be disconnected but now it says "Sync" for a few seconds and then goes to the home screen anyway.

Any idea's out there? (apart from doen't use Kies as it's rubbish because I'm not tecky enough to sort something else)

    Thanks in advance
