Just bought my phone , but have one or 2 issues,having read through these forums i would say that i have the gps slow and battery life problems.
My last phone is a HTC wildfire.
I updated through Kies the build number is GINGERBREAD.BOKG2 when i ggogled this it came up as a german version,can anyone clarify? I live in the uk and bought from a uk shop (second hand). I was hoping that the Anreoid would be updated to 2.3.4 ,but whats showing on phone is 2.3.3.
If this is a german phone is there a way to change it to a uk build ?? That is if it matters. Is there a 2.3.4 upgrade? Lastly is there a way without rooting (dont know if i have the balls to attempt yet)to remove the T-MOBILE branding?

Can you type *#1234# on the dialpad and post back what you see.

I'm almost certain that it is German firmware, hopefully it could be as easily resolved as registering the IMEI and choosing a new CSC.

Rooting will not remove the T-Mobile branding. You will need to flash new firmware. If you want UK firmware and to get rid of the branding then the best thing for you to do is to flash new firmware yourself.

Won't tell you that just yet as it resets your phone and you'll lose all your apps and settings, equivalent of a factory reset.

BO is the provider code (T-Mobile Germany) and KG2 is the firmware code.

Edit: so KG2 is a multi CSC which should allow you to do the following:

**Make a list of your apps and backup your contacts, apps etc**

So to change to the correct region we first need to know the IMEI number of your phone. Go to the dialer as if you were going to make a call and dial *#06# and this will show your IMEI number. It will be a 15 digit code. Write it down very carefully.

Now dial *#272*Your IMEI# but replace the words "Your IMEI" with the 15 digit code you just wrote down. So for example you would dial something like *#272*213245765434567#

You will get a list of CSC's to choose from. You should select "XEU" and click install. Your phone will probably reboot now and you might need to set the keyboard type and location stuff again.

XEU would be the english version

Changing the CSC to XEU will change the region to UK, it shouldn't cause the phone any problems and if it does then run the command again and change back to what it was.

Im wondering if this phone has been rooted or flashed, the kernel version reads 2.6.35.7-i91000bokg2-cl255512root@dell104 number 2.There are no pre installed games, which iswhy i ask the question.

As far as I know that doesn't mean rooted.



Found this thread - where someone has posted a pic of the 'about phone', they updated from Kies to JPX when it was new.

all i can see is tmu ,i dont see a list of of choices. ???
i copied and pasted XEU into the box ,result is when go to install is, must be 3 chars. i get the same if i try to install the original TMU.
