Go to Samfirmware.com to see which is the latest release for your phone's model. You'll have to sign up but it's an essential site.

I'm lead to believe that a friend of mine apparently saw speed improvements down the pub.

    So I'm told.

I'm stuck on JVP as all my favourite sources have abandoned their SGSs in favour of the eye eye. JKay, SuperCurio etc. I still think my SGS was happiest on JPY.
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

Flashed last night and tested thoroughly.

Wifi - Dropped out a few times - Never done this before with any other firmware (This appears to be an issue with the firmware as i have seen on XDA)
GPS - Hit and Miss, be lucky if it doesnt point me down the road somewhere, drops off as well, used to get a GPS signal in my basement before lol

General performance - VERY GOOD!!! Zippy and fast.

    Shall i stay on this....NO!!!!

Usually use the phone for GPS and this modem is terrible.

Back to JVR for me. :-D

For those of you who want a clean stable 2.3.5 that's as close to stock as possible give this ROM a go...

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1059561

I've been on it 2 weeks now and it's amazing, battery life is brilliant (5% drop in 8 hours idle), speed is the best I've seen, apps load so fast, TW3 and it's the most reliable ROM I've been on, had no problems at all.....It's basically stock with a load of performance tweaks + root, it's not EXT4 by default but it really doesn't need it IMO. I converted to EXT4 and couldn't tell the difference lol

5% drop in 8 hours idle, you say... Mine does -2% over night, and that's idle for sure.

But Tweaky... Thanks for the link, might be worth a try.

I have a lot of apps that sync with the network so this is pretty amazing for me
