Sygic Mobile Maps 10 for Android



GPS lock using Sygic Mobile maps 10.. I got this lock indoors next to the window. Under 5 floors of apartment building by the way. As far as I can tell from testing, its as fast as my i8910.

So lock is in around 5-7 seconds if not quicker outside in full view of the sky.

Seems good but a lot of people are complaining about the gps.I realy hope its is near 18910 standard.perhaps theres a few software bugs to iron out.Load times seem really impressive.I think a lot of this talk about lag is people being fussy

I'm not experiencing it. I think becasue maybe its got something to do with GoogleMaps, as seen in the videos my Galaxy S gets full signal very quick running Sygic. I'll try with GoogleMaps and see if its the
same speed.

By the way, I tried the GPS today in the street with a clear sky, GPS lock in like 2 seconds so quick.... So I don't know what these "people" are talking about. I'm not seeing it. I could film a thousand videos of this getting GPS signal 5 bars in a matter of seconds using Sygic GPS. Perhaps they have faulty Vodafone firmware or own iphones.....

I lock quite quick but google maps is nowhere near as accuate indoors as i8910hd is and it jumps about,could ba a fault with google maps? Co pilot seems ok but need to do more testing.As for firmware goes im on contract with vodafone but phone is stock samsung firmware ans sim free-just put my orange simc ard in it and it works.Not sure why this is so but seems to be the case if you order from mobiles uk.

I tired googlemaps and its slow for GPS lock, so its an issue with googlemaps. Not the hardware GPS chipset. because using Sygic mobile maps i get lock in 3 seconds outside. 5-7 seconds in side next to a window.

I'll grab GPS test from the market and see what SNR the GPS sat's are giving me

Ive used gps test and garmin xt on i8910 side by side.(Garmin has an identical feature).The number of satalites locked onto does not compare well to i8910.Co pilot 8 does seem to be a fine driving experiance though and to be fair the i8910 is an amazing piece of kit as far as gps reception goes.

is the google maps problem something we can fix, or do we have to wait for google to update googlemaps?

Im not fully convinced the problem is just google maps.Co pilot 8 loses lock a lot to if i try to use it on my lap in the car.Gps test also shows poor results compared to what my old i8910 hd would show.Probably sygic seems ok because its always on a car mount by the windscreen,although the latest firmware apparently improves things.As it is at the moment I consider the galaxy s an awsome phone with at best average gps usability.
