SGS II GPS does it work without problems and how does it affect battery life?

I am looking at changing to the SGS II but have concerns about the GPS and battery life.

There's a lot of information about the problems relating to the GPS on the SGS but not the SGS II so is it safe to assume there are no longer issues with the SGS II GPS? How will the GPS compare to an HTC smart phone?
There is a lot of advise inproving the efficeincy of the SGS GPs, does the SGS II work accurately out of the box are would I still have to do some tweaking?

Does anyone have information on how long the battery will last when running the GPS with a navigation app once turning off the obvious blue-tooth, wi-fi etc? I currently use an HTC at the moment and a comparison would be useful.

In my experience the GPS is both better and worse than that in the SGS. It is better in that it is more accurate, but worse in that it is less reliable - sometimes it drops the connection for 30 seconds or so, which can be problematic if you are using it for a SatNav!

Things may have been fixed in the latest firmware, but i am still on KE7 (O2) and it is a problem here. My friend, who also has an SGS2, has the same issue with his phone (also on O2, but Ke2 I think), so it is not an isolated issue.

I have to say I am surprised this hasn't caused the same sort of uproar that it did on the SGS1!

Don't know about times, but for sure, it eats the battery if GPS and/or 3G signals are weak. The phone works hard to obtain both of them if they are weak. Perhaps there are differences what comes to the actual navigation software too.
