Jumping text problem - please help nail this one!

I'd be grateful if someone could help with this one. I've been getting a problem with entering text into text boxes for posting on forums including this one - the text box jumps up carrying the words off screen. You can drag them back into view but resuming typing repeats this jump. It's worse when zoomed in to make the text bigger or with a lot of text. It doesn't do it inside the quick text box on this forum but jumps left or right or up or down on the advanced text entry box. On most forums it does it and is a right pain. It seems to want to approximately centre the box on the screen all the time regardless of where the text entry focus is, causing your text to jump off screen.

It seems to be ROM independent (Darky's 9.5 and 2.3.3 stock Gingerbread tested).

It varies with browser. The stock browser does it and so does Dolphin HD. Firefox fixes the text box nicely with no jumping about. Opera fixes the text box and the text simply wraps around within the visible portion of the text entry box. The trouble is I want to use Dolphin, so I'm looking for a solution.

To test whether it does it for you, do the following:

1) Go to post a reply and select the "Go advanced" post option with all the smileys etc.
2) Hold the phone upright (portrait, not landscape)
3) Type "This is a test"
4) Now zoom the screen so that the words fill the visible width of the screen (pinch outside the box to do this)
5) Now try and add some more text to the end of the line.

If you have this problem "This is a test" will shoot off the top of the screen making it impossible to see what you are typing. Dragging it back is no good as it zooms off screen again as soon as you resume typing.

If you don't have this problem I'd be very interested in your particular setup - if you've tweaked any settings to get round this and which browser you are using etc. Thanks in advance

Just tested on stock Android browser and Opera Mobile. Both work fine? I think this particular gripe is perhaps a Dolphin issue. Solution: use Opera Mobile. It's the superior mobile browser anyway!

Interesting - it does it on my stock browser - or at last the one that comes with Darky's.

Yes, it is annoying. Turning off Auto Fit Page helps a bit. I'll not use Opera until It supports Flash.

I'm using Dolphin Browser HD (which, despite this, remains my browser of choice by some distance). I'm on stock JVQ now (very smooth and stable). I suspect it's a browser engine thing - I'll drop a line to the developers to ask if it's due to be fixed...

What did Dolphin Support say? They keep telling me they can't reproduce the problem
