Choosing: Galaxy Ace or Galaxy S2

    Hi

I am trying to choose between a Galaxy Ace or a Galaxy S2 for a pay as you go phone.
The situation is that I can get a Galaxy Ace for free, or pay roughly £400 for a Galaxy S2.

Can someone who has used these phones tell me what the advantages of the Galaxy S2 are?

For online stuff (using 3g) like Facebook, news websites and YouTube are the two phones identical in performance?

Also what things can you do on a Galaxy S2 that justify the price?

The Galaxy Ace is a budget phone with low specks. Read somewhere its sometimes laggy. For online stuff, it may come down to your internet speed but the SGS EyeEye will still be faster and play video better.

The Galaxy S2, is top of the line. Its fast, handles multiple apps easy, has a great screen. If you want to show off this is the phone. If you like games, this is the phone. If you like watching videos, you've guested it, this is the phone

May I suggest the the Galaxy S (SGS). It's been out for a year, but is still a top notch phone. Not as good as the Galaxy EyeEye but still miles above other phones that are being released now

Also it's cheaper than the SGS EyeEye and should be able to find a good deal for one

Thanks for the very useful post, Doomed.
I'm practically sold on the S2 after reading reviews and seeing videos filmed with the amazing camera.

I was just wondering about wi-fi tethering (which I have never used before)
Could I use this phone in place of a 3g dongle to provide internet for a netbook? Would this be feasible with the battery life of the phone?

Also, is it generally possible to seamlessly stream 720p or 1080p Youtube on this phone?

It can do wifi tethering of 3g no problem and should last 5 or more hours doing that so probably plenty for what you do but you would have to make sure your contract allows that.

As for streaming 1080p, look for some videos online, I posted a link to one somewhere, it can effortlessly handle streaming several 1080p videos and once in the same browser page. This phone has awesome amounts of power.

That's great news, streaming 1080p videos is more than my current broadband can do!

I have been struggling to find a pay as you go sim that allows tethering and has a large download limit. Giff Gaff are known for being excellent for mobile internet, but tethering is not allowed on their sims.
Do you happen to have seen a network that supports, or at least doesn't ban tethering?
(I am looking for pay as you go only due to light calls and texts usage)
