    Email setup

Hi all, hoping for some help.

Trying to setup my email - pop3 goes through fine but, smtp comes up with 'Server does not support authentication'.

What to do about this? All full stops etc are in the right place, why did it set up fine on the Galaxy S and not the S2?

Many thanks in advance for any help

If memory serves me right you need to take the tick out of authentication.

I have the SGS so I would think it's more or less the same. On the first screen where you enter your email address and password, it should have manual setup and next, go for the manual setup, on the next screen select POP3 account, the nexr screen, put in your user name, password, POP3 server, Port, security type none, delete eamil from server, set how you want, tap next it will now verify the details, next screen, smtp server, port and security type none, require sign-in take the tick out. Tap on next to verify the settings, the next screen set how you want, tap done.

    Already done everything you said.
It really shouldn't be a problem and I can't work out why it stalls at the smtp stage.
The settings should be exactly as they were on my old sgs.

Hopefully the two pics have uploaded and you can see for yourself.

Could it be anything to do with APN settings?

I just did a quick search and found this, make sure your not logged into your tiscali account online, or via outlook, etc as only 1 client can be connected at any one time to the server. Also when you set the POP is it pop3 or just pop, on the same site I got the other info from they are saying just pop.

Deffo pop3. I think I may be permanently logged in - but this never caused a problem on the sgs!

On some forum's I looked at, some are saying pop and others say pop3, take your pick. I can see if your permanently logged in that being an issue. I know on mine I can some times set it up with out going and incoming mail as ntlworld.com and some times I have to change the smtp setting to orange(my network) but not very often. You could try that, use your tiscali pop3 settings and your mobile providers smtp settings, I know it sound strange but broadband providers wont always let other servers access them, worth ago.
