Try changing the port number to 25. Not that many SMTP servers support port 587.

Also check that your mobile network doesn't block unathenticated SMTP. T-Mobile does, but they offer an alternative server for their customers.

If it still doesn't work try choosing authentication and entering your POP3 login details. I did this with relay.plus.net and it now works fine.

I have a blueyonder email address which I couldn't set up on my Galaxy S2. However I found a work around. In the settings when I'm in Virgin emails, there is an option to forward emails to another email address. I put in the googlemail email I had to set up when I started my Galaxy contract and now I'm receiving the emails from my Blueyonder email address.

    I hope this helps.

All sorted (at last). It was indeed port 25 and smtp.o2 rather than tiscali. Which I still find odd as it was working pefectly on smtp.tiscali last week!
    Still, musn't grumble.
    Thanks for all the advice.

Can't post a new thread so im going to post my issue here:

    Hey,

I just can't send emails with attached files. Not ir Email app not it GMAIL app. No matter the size of the file.

I go to the out tray in Email app, and displays a button: Send messages. I click it, it goes "Sending messages..." Then back to the square one. No error message, no nothing. The same with the gMAIL app just that there is no button, just stays in the out tray. However when I forward an email with attached content it would send alright, but no if I attach the file myself, or "Insert" from gallery.

The file weight 2m, i have a pretty fast wifi connection plus unlimited 3G internet.

    Any toughts?
I've just bought my SGSII 3 days ago and i have the latest firmware according to samsung kies and phone info on settings.

Were you connected via Wi-Fi last week? If so, your phone was directly connected to Tiscali's network and their SMTP server was happy to relay your emails.

If you connect via 3G, you're effectively going via O2's network. Since the advent of spam most networks don't let customers of other networks send mail through their SMTP servers.
