Is it possible to over-ride the screen time-out?

I know it uses up battery time, but is it possible to over-ride the screen time-out?
The longest time option on the menu seems to be 10 minutes, but eg when using GPS in the car - especially when the car charger is attached - it would be most helpful to over-ride this 10 minute limit.

I would think that is more of a case of a setting in the GPS app you are using.

I think there are a few Apps which allow you to override that setting. Search the market for something like "Car Widget" or "Widgetsoid".. There are loads out there.

Very many thanks. I'll try that. Unfortunately it is not an option in the GPS software I'm using - the otherwise excellent Ordnance Survey software 'Viewranger'

Possibly the best solution is a free app like KeepScreen which has settings to allow you to override the screen timeout only for particular apps that you select.

This is something that also drove me mad. I use an app called "No Lock", you simply select locking enabled or disabled. I don't think it actualy stops the phone locking as you still hear the locking sound (if enabled), but it then unlocks it immediatley without having to do anything else so you don't notice.

Excellent. Thank you for your help. "Keepscreen" does the job perfectly: without doing anything, it automatically keeps the screen on just on the program I want it on (Viewranger OS maps).
