Trying to update from KE2 to KE7 and am kinda lost

My phone got hot when playing games and i read that the heating problem dissapears when you update to Ke7.

Well I was trying to update from Ke2 to Ke7 but because i live in sweden and the update isnt avaiable here i had to follow a guide to root it in order for it to get updated.

    heres the guide: http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/show...sung-Galaxy-S2

Anyway so I followed the guide but when i went into "about phone" and there it says

    Baseband Version: 19100XXKDH

    Kernel Version: 2.5.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513root@DELL103 #2

    Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKDD

So what did i miss? what should I do to get the update?

That's not a guide to root but to debrand to the generic european firmware which is what you want to do. I think maybe you didn't put the phone into download mode? because it doesn't look like it got flashed:

STEP 4- Connect the USB cable and Turn your device on with volume down, action and power pressed - press 'up' at the warning prompt

You may be right, so what should i do now.

Is it safe to re-do the procedure?

Yeah it's fine to try again. Press down volume, power and home button all at once while the phone is off, a little message will come up (you can let go now) it will tell you to press up volume to enter download mode. Now connect to the usb and odin should light up yellow on one of the com ports to show it's ready to flash.

As long as you downloaded Ke7 for odin to flash over then that should do it yes.

I thought that "STEP 3" from the tutorial was the KE7 for odin?

Ahh looking at that it's KD1 an early one that was used as a post to help people debrand. Look here for the Ke7 file, I wouldn't bother with KE8 and definately don't use KF1 as it will wipe your phone. Think we should be there now

If you never started flashing anything I think you could probably just hold down power and it should reboot. As for the rar file, you need to use a program called winrar to extract it, the resulting file will then be recognised by odin. Whether or not you should do that on a work phone is another matter?
