Numpty question: Turning off stat up/shutdown sounds

I've done this before but can't find out how I did it! I am sure it is so simple..a little help please.

hi settings......then sounds.... scroll to screen lock sounds the un-tick .....no probs

Thanks but I mean when I switch it off and on, i.e. power it on and off, not just unlock/lock tghe screen

You need to turn the system volume right down in the sounds part of the settings menu. (I hate the boot up/down sounds too.)
