Any one tried co pilot 8?

Looking at reviews this seems a very capable and reasonably priced piece of software.Has anybody used it on android or know of anything better?

Since I brought Sygic GPS application and its got install files for Android I will try that. Will let you know. Not sure about Co Pilot 8, I don't think it has maps of all of the world yet. I need Europe and Aust/NZ.

I have Copilot, since I had already purchased that on an earlier Android handset. Its fine, works well for the most part. Address search in New Zealand is a bit clumsily handled though - you have to input the city in order to search for a street (ie you can't search for all instances of the street ordered by proximity to you), and it divides Auckland into 'cities' by suburb, and even further divides the suburbs into east/west etc (even if they are not known by those divisions in Auckland). Makes searching for a street frustrating at times if you don't happen to know its suburb +/- its location within the suburb. Considering part of the point of GPS is to help you out when you don't know where somewhere is this is obviously a less than ideal arrangement. Whether this is true for other countries I don't know.

Sygic any better in that regard Briggs? Also, if you purchase Sygic, is the license transferable to future devices?

Yes, Sygic is great for searches. I can just for example type in the suburbs and then search for the street there. But yes it great, I like it after iGO or Gamrin XT its one of the best. I dont think its transferable as the licience is based of your devices ID.

Ah, shame its not transferable. Copilot is a one-off payment for all your Android devices going forward, and its cheaper than Sygic to boot, which makes it considerably better value.

With searching can you just enter a street name, without needing the suburb or any other details?

Yes you can just search Auckland for example and search the street without having to type in Newmarket etc.

Thats what I need, like Garmin (which I've always had before Android on Symbian and WinMo).

I used to have garmin xt, but Sygic is 5 times better in my eyes. Garmin seem to have stopped updating Garmin XT too.

5x better? I now have Sygic installed, but I think 5x better is a stretch. I still prefer how Garmin managed address search, but Sygic is better than Copilot in that regard (although its user interface is a little less polished).
