Videos wont play on my other devices?

Video files recorded on my sgs2 have the file extension mp4 but wont play on my sony bravia tv or via my sumvision cyclone mkv2 media player. They do however play on my windows 7 laptop.

When playing a video on the sgs2 you can get more info by tapping menu/details. This tells me the format is 3gpp. I believe 3gpp forms a simple wrapper around the mp4 file and suspect this is the element my other devices can't handle.

If I copy the files to my laptop and convert them to mp4 using [RZ Video Converter] program then copy them back to my sgs2... They now play fine on all my devices including the sgs2.

I would dearly love to play my movies on the tv via wifi without first having to convert them. Can anyone help?

er...why don't you use hdmi to transfer videos to TV? accroding to my experience, if the galaxys 2 can play, the tv also can by using hdmi function.
by the way, is the RZ Video Converter a free one? i use a free version of foxreal video converter, but there is a icon in the centre of the result video, now i don't want spend money on such things.

i am confused on video files recorded on my sgs2 and i posted the problem on XDA(http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=14707320). until now no luck. if you set as 720p and 1080p in video recording, the video format is 3gp. others mp4. on my win 7 32bit PC, they are all .mp4. but in Mediainfo, they are 3gp. when i copy them to my xoom, the 1080p 3gp video can't play. other can play. so if you want to playback your files on other devices or tv, you can shoot on less than 1080p.

Do you need to copy the files off the phone or are you happy to play them directly?
Do you have a home media server?

I had the same issue with my PS3 not playing the mp4's and solved this using Twonky media server. I use PS3 media server to stream from my PC to to TV/PS3, and Twonky to stream from my phone to my PC or PS3 over wireless. Works with 1080p also...

It's possibly not the solution you're looking for but it definitely does work. Much the same as the Allshare tool except this one converts the format on the fly.
