After a long battle I finally upgraded. My two problems were Norton and the dreaded 0%. Thankyou to all who suggested switching off Norton and removing and reinstalling the latest Kies. That did the trick.

UPdated my GS last night. Seems quicker but now my phone is dead. BATTERY totally drained. Usually lasts all day but now flat by 17:00.
What have they done to the power consumption ???????????

Did you do a factory reset and clear the cache, its well documented that you need to clear and reset to remove any parts of old firmware

Hi I Have noticed something that may or may not of changed....
When you are on an old text message before, you could tap it and it would
open up as a full page message...and then you could slide from message to message.
has this changed or is that to do with settings?
    anyone know.....

Ha! I never knew you could slide sideways liked that. It works on Darky's 9.5 as I've just found out.
I've got a headache and eyestrain ... one day all will be fixed!

SGS I9000 with Darky's ROM 9.5 still until they get call recording on a newer ROM

I don't think Gingerbread lets you do that, you can only view messages in "conversation mode". (ie, the speech bubble things)

There is nothing stopping you installing a third party app though, something like GoSMS or HandCent.

Personally, I'm happy with the stock one

Tried to update yesterday and failed 4 times - thought it was Norton but tried again this morning and worked perfectly so was probably just too many people overloading the servers.

I noticed the same thing - they seem to have disabled that but they now show the full text in the bubble rather than making you go into the text to read it.

They also appear to have changed the functions on the 'Program Manager' widget - you only have one 'clear ram' option which does not seem to clear as much as the old 2 options.

It is really draining my battery though - is a factory reset really the only way to sort this out?
Even with my backup I always seem to lose my app's data.

P.S. I'm not rooted etc - but lag is defo less and app draw now has a nice little fade in that I don't remember from before.

I charged my phone before I did the update at about 8.30am yesterday, I then did factory reset before and after update and I have now got 25% battery left and that is with quite a lot of calls, internet browsing and a bit of camera usage.
