Did you update the phone before disconnecting?
Also try going into contacts > Menu > Display Settings and checking the relevant options there![]()
Thanks for the reply. Yes have tried updating the phone. The only options in the display config for contacts are, Phone, Sim and Google all of which are ticked.
I was hoping Samsung had come along a bit since my F480 but it seems notIt should not be difficult to sync these days.
I synced my contacts from PC to a phone with Outlook 2007 just fine. This is actually only thing that work well in Kies software for me so far
Didn't try with 2010 version, so cannot help. Did you close the Kies before unplugging the phone?
Earlier I did sync same contacts exporting to csv file, and then importing to Gmail Contacts, but I couldnt set my phone to display only selected group of contacts, so ended up syncing directly from Outlook.
Can't think of anything else really, its all worked fine for me :S Just have to make sure you hit the update device button in Kies after putting your contacts accross and then either disconnect via Kies or by using the phones home button. Should be there then :S
I'm just wondering if it's something I am not understanding about Outlook and how it works? You see I never use it myself. My brother, who is now looking at getting the Galaxy S after seeing mine, relies on Outlook a lot but he's running the 2010 version. I have Outlook 2010 installed as part of the full Office 2010 suite so I said I would test it for him. In order to do that I set up some contacts in Outlook but....is there something I should also be setting up on the phone? Outlook and contacts is something completely alien to me so not sure if I'm missing a step or two?
Thanks again for all the responses![]()
I just went through the process and is as simple as possible - connect the phone, start the Kies, you get the option to sync with Outlook (or sync Outlook with phone), options you can ignore, you get progress bar as it is syncing, and that is pretty much all.
Can you give us some more info. After sync when you are still in Kies do you actually see the contacts in Contacts icon?
Actually Outlook 2010 is a bit different (for example some data files are stored in different locations than usual), so I wouldn't be surprize if it had some compatibilty issues with KIES, being really new product.
Anyway in the long run your brother would propably want some sort of wireless syncing, quickly checked market and there are some apps that offer this, but than again I would make sure that they are compatible with Office 2010
Just a small update, tried to sync contacts with Outlook 2010 from Kies software and it works fine.
Sorted the problem. Syncs fine with Outlook 2010 now![]()
