    garmin mobile xt

Just waiting for my nice new S2 to arrive. Will I be able to use my Garmin Mobile XT application on it? I have the original prog that came on a micro SD card. It worked well on my Nokia 5800xp and N95, but I stopped using it when Ovi maps became free.
Hope someone can enlighten me on this. cheers fredw

I doubt it would work on the Android platform. If you have a data plan you can just use Google maps and navigation. I understand the GPS actually gets a lock on the SGSII, which is nice.
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

You were right this time! Unfortunately the xt programme only works on symbian, palm and windows op. systems.
I am however getting good results with google maps with voice navigation. Not as good as Ovi maps though, but adequate for my needs.
One last major prob to overcome is the transfer of my contacts from my N8 to the SG2. any ideas? thanks for the reply. cheers

Where contacts are concerned, I recommend transferring them to your Google account instead of directly onto your SGS. They are then secure if something happens to your phone, plus you can then access them from a PC. It's probably easier to put them on your account using your PC.

You can also export them to a memory card as a VCARD file - then put the file on your android phone, and import the vcard into your contacts.
