My brother wants to upgrade his galaxy S2 on AT&T to ics, i'm pretty sure i know this answer but i wanna make sure..... i run an lg optimus rooted, custom roms. is this phone(and all Android Phones) like mine where if i update my phone thru the AT&T update will it unroot and get rid of CWM recovery???. he is deciding wether he wants to do the AT&T update or just flash the ICS rom over at XDA thats the AT&T update but the rom is rooted already.

My concern is if he goes to trade it in can i update it with the official ICS update and it'll get rid of the root and custom recovery?
Just want to make sure it will before i flash the rom to the phone.

Only full wipe flashes will delete root so OTA updates shouldn't effect it. When you want to sell it just flash a full ROM via Odin and all root & recoveries will be gone....
