this is alot easier than the first root for the sgs, lol remember briggs? from that sh4rk guy, ugh a total pain.. but yeah in sure in a few days this process will be cut down to a .zip or an odin file

as far as using TB to back stuff up, i dont think im going to do it.. im going to start fresh, and give all the default apps a chance, then slowly replace them with the ones i used on my galaxy s. i hope we can get more app discussions going this time around with the S2, i think thats really the core of what androids made of, yet we only talk about roms and benchmarks it seems

Yes I remember that it certainly wasn't that easy in the beginning with the SGS. Your right in a few weeks we should have a simple Odin flash or something along those lines. But where of to a good start. Then clockwork mod it will be great once the custom roms start up too.

I'm having issues, like I did with my SGS. CDC serial driver error Windows 7. Can't install this driver so Odin doesn't detect it

Yes I have exactly same problem. You have to install Kies2 and there is a USB driver in the kies directory. Once installed reboot machine and everything is fine again

    So a few questions:

    1. Is it possible to "un-root"
    2. Is it possible to restore back to the original firmware
    3. Is the firmware provided here that beta 2.3.3 firmware, and if so, what does it add? Apparently a couple of bugs were fixed or something because it's a developer beta firmware? (Can't remember source on where it said it was a developer beta version I just read it the other day. The article was written in a really odd way though so I may have misinterpreted). Edit: Found article here.
    4. Finally, how does this affect software updates from Samsung?

    1. There is an "Unroot" option in OneClickRoot program, I havn't tried it myself but it should work.
    2. The method here only install an "insecure" modded kernel, so the firmware should stay the same.
    3. The article says it needs to update the firmware to KDD before apply the kernal, but I don't remember there is any firmware update for my phone, my firmware is still XXKDH after I flashed the kernal.
    4. This method only change the Kernal and not the blue print of the phone which is read by Kies to varify the update versions for your phone so in theory there shoudn't be any problem for software update.

Ah cheers. What I really meant by question 2 was - is the a known method to restore back to the factory kernel?
