Kies disconnects on updating firmware

Hi I also have upgraded to latest firmware 2.21 from 3 but yes you do get the option not to back up as i didn't and installed without any problem!

I did the same upgrade last night, including a pre-installation backup, with no problem at all. I did need to make room on the hard drive for the temporary files to be downloaded.
I use Windows Vista.

Yes, I have managed to install the firmware without any problems, the only difference was I used wifi instead of mobile broadband. I think it is a problem with Kies which probabaly gets stuck when using mobile broadband.

Well i have had exactly the same. I have also tried everything,to no avail. i am tired of it. i also think it has damaged my phone as it is now very slow and texts are taking ages to send and recieve. Also e-mails have stopped coming in. So hey,what;s new. We are all gluttons for punishment by supporting these phones and getting involved with contracts.
