    Galaxy problems

Hi guys, my first post here. I am the happy owner of my galaxy s for the last 6 months now, love the phone. But recently it has decided to play up a bit. It started out when one day I couldnt connect to the internet, so i did what most would and try the settings and everything was normal. I then switched the phone off, left the room and by the time i came back to switch it on it had a yellow warning sign (android man "construction" sign) saying "DOWNLOADING....... DO NOT SWITCH OFF TARGET". This made me worry. I left it alone for 10 minutes and then decided to switch the phone off but it wouldnt, so i removed the battery. From then on it wouldnt switch on. Went to work and then switches on by itself. From the on the "USB connected"flashes when i charge the phone, constantly flashing. So in all I am asking is there something I can do to fix this. I am running on Eclair, would updating to Froyo help. I have even wiped the phone back to factory settings to no ovail. Any help would be very much appreciated. Huwston.

You could try updating as you may have a software glitch, plenty of how too's here on what to do. If you don't then you'll have to say good bye to it as it goes off to see the Doctor

I agree with the mighty Doomed.

I also suggest this is your opportunity to flash 2.2.1, it looks daunting but really is very simple as long as you follow the instructions.

Or. Get it fixed/a replacement and flash that instead.

    Hi Folks

I am new here, I am a proud owner of a Galaxy S, never had a problem with it till now. Just in the last couple of days some apps started to update without being asked and then last night my phone battery ran out and i didnt discover it till this morning. I put it on charge and left it. Now that its full i cant seem to boot up my phone it only goes as far as the S on the screen on boot up then goes black screen and vibrates every so often.

I had it checked out and was told this is a hardware prob. can anyone clarify this.

It shouldn't be a hardware problem as the phone is turning on and the display is working.

Try taking out the battery for five minutes and then replace and turn back on.

If this doesn't work then try to get into recovery mode.....press and hold hold Vol+ & home button & Power button, keep held until the recovery menu appears. From the recovery menu you should be able to carry out a factory reset. Your accounts, contacts and apps will be reset, as if the phone came out of the factory.

    Yes and No.

Did you press volume up or down? The screen that you see is the download mode for putting on new firmware. To get rid of the screen just take out the battery and put back in.

If you did press volume up and you still got into download mode then you may have to flash new firmware on your phone. Take out the battery and give it another go, let us know if the same happens again.

And here we are back to my pet hate with these phones. They should have the ability to backup stuff really, really easily. So when something goes wrong you don't lose all your stuff like Rossi37 has.

You have to root and use something like Titanium Backup.

Rossi37, have a look at rooting your phone and backing up. You'll invalidate your warranty if you return it to the powers that be in that state, but you can save yourself so much hassle.
