Darky's ROM 9.5 observations

I'm sure I've seen that problem before but I can't remember at the moment sorry. Perhaps a search will show something up.

Meanwhile I found these to replace the incorrect "9.4" on the boot up screen with a more generic "Darky's ROM Extreme Edition":

Hi Guys,
Cpl of quick questions.. i was on Darky's 9.1 but it didn't work great for me as i'm a bell customer and it wouldn't connect to my 3G network. Thus i switched to SeeArm's rom.. which has been working okay, but not great. I'd like to try Darky's 9.5. How do i fix my 3G network problem? Is it just a modem issue? Do i need to use JL2 modem? how would i go about installing the JL2 modem? do i just flash Darky's rom via CWM and then reboot into download and flash just the modem thru ODIN? do i need to get new PIT files? anything else i'd need to change/update?

In the mean time, I just flashed a new Kernel (Dark Core v1.2) - MORE INFO HERE - which gives 339Meg of RAM, Voodoo Sound 7, fixes the bootup glitching screen and future-proofs for OTA Darky updates

You can install the JL2 modem via CWM exactly the same way you install Darky's via CWM, as long as you have the CWM version of the modem. I have it locally, I'm just trying to find an online source for it.

Anyone having problems with the standard music app? Sometimes when I go to play my music it says the format is not supported, even though it was already playing that music a few hours before. If you turn of the phone and on again and then it plays...

This is where I saw where some had the same problem but it seems to be a problem with earlier versions of Darky's and stock ROMs too - so looks not specifically 9.5 or any ROM related but due to some other corruption. It might be worth contacting them to see if they managed to fix it:

Yes but that's only the start of the process. You'd be best advised to take a full backup as a first Darky's install will wipe everything, so something like ROM manager and Titanium backup - both of those need root access. You'll also need to ensure you have a working three button recovery and the ability to flash an unsigned zip which 2e recovery will give you. Look up CF-root for that on XDA developers site. You'll also need Odin and the right version of CF-root for your kernal. Then from Clock Work Mod recovery that comes with ROM manager you can install the Darky's zip. That's an outline but you need to look up the various guides for the full details.
