Right, all this talk of downgrading has nudged me.....most annoying thing is that the wifi signal/reception was a lot worse. I just got 2 bars where I was at work and GB barely showed a bar. TalkSport wasn't the same I also got 2 bars on wifi when the router was a meter away!

    Edit:
Point of this was, is it fine just to flash back to JPY?

Since I'm flashing firmware again, I wanted to give Darky/2.2.1 a solid foundation to update too. Which is the best firmware to start from and would it matter?

That's just a bug in signal indication. The signal is no lower than 2.2.1, it just shows up that way. 2.3.3 is great

I'm listening to TuneIn Radio which is running off wifi, the app keeps cutting out far more frequently then it would if I was running Darky 8. The buffering is not a problem...it never is???

I'm still not sure if I've copied the build.prop on to the phone (date mod says 20/3/11, when I flashed the fw but not copied b.p)
Battery seemed to drain a lot slower on 2.3.3 though, good signs for if and when another GB version is released.

Darky has a nice Rom and they are nicely prepared and set out. I'm sure there is now the Kitchen option, I liked the idea of picking what you want out of your software. Think I'll flash darky, it's too good.

Regarding my previous post about my battery drain.

Seems to have settled down now lost 11% in a poor reception area in around 8-9hrs.

Overall i'm impressed with it so far, the phone is much sharper and although others are having problems with wifi i have to say mine seems very good and the browser is fantastic no blocky squares at all.

I'll have a better idea in a couple of days, still getting used to it and finding different things. Definately an improvement on 2.2.1 though

    @Tufftoad;

If you flashed the new bootloader, great, its supports all older firmwares and your also prep'd for when gingerbread comes out.
If you didnt, no worries, same process works, i just applied JPU first, then JPY, back to 2.2.1 :-D and if you want, you can apply CWM, and then custom ROMs.

I have the newest bootloader, so its all good :-D

My personal preference is JS8 PDA, with JPG Modem and JPU CSC. apparently fantastic combo, more specifically modem and PDA, superb battery life which i can confirm, and very stable, had this setup before the jump to gingerbread.

Although it's fast and stable it is using alot of the RAM and the battery life for me is very erratic, sometimes using 1% and hour on standy and like this morning 11% in an hour and a half doing nothing! very strange.

Can't make up my mind if i'm going to keep it or go back to 2.2.1

I want to try this firmware. Do I use all 3 files in the download to flash or just the pda file?

As you may guess, this will be my first time!

Yup, flashed with the bootloaders included.

Intrigued by your pick n mix firmware, might give that a try before Darky. Cheers Pidz.

Pidz, if you have a mo.

Are you flashing these all at the same time with 512 pit and re-partition, or in stages?

    Cheers.
