    Cannot install Darkys ROM

Well I don't know whats going on with my phone but it seems to be stuck!

I rooted my phone using z4root and lad fixed with OCLF fix before I upgraded to 2.2.1, when I did this I cleared all settings and apps from my phone.

Now I or the phone don't seem to know what its doing, I cannot re-root using z4root as it crashes and OCLF still thinks I need to root, when I do this it says I need to select "apply sdcard..." at recovery but when I do this I get the "E: signiture verification" that occurs when you try to root at handset on 2.2+.

Looks like I am stuck at this point on my phone now, have tried putting Darkys zip file on my internal sd (don't need to rename this do I?) but still no joy, just comes up E:failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (no such file or directory).

    Any ideas?

The first error message (signature verification failed) is because you still have 3e recovery installed, when you need 2e.

The second error message (no such file or directory) is just telling you that you don't have a file on your internal phone memory which is called "update.zip".

You need to use Odin to flash the CF-Root for JPY firmware to your phone. Not only will this give you Root, it will also give you 2e recovery. Once you do have root you should run OCLF again and get rid of the lagfix. Then (because you will then have 2e recovery) you will be able to flash Clockworkmod Recovery to your phone, then from within that you will be able to "Install a zip from SDCard", namely Darky's (or any) ROM.

No, you don't install Darky's ROM by renaming it to update.zip. I guess it could work, but it's not what he recommends at all.

ok, i have odin but have never used it. how do i flash the CF-root?

once this is done, what am i running on OCLF before getting rid of the lag fix (lag fixing then un-lag fixing?).

when i have both CWM and darkys on my internal sd, do they both appear in recovery mode? is it clear which to select in which order (CWN THEN Darkys obviously)?

First, get your phone Rooted and 2e recovery installed, we'll get to the zip files later.

Read THIS THREAD AT XDA and from one of the first three posts in that thread, download the right CF-Root for your firmware. So if you are on JPY, you need a JPY one. If you are on JPX you need a JPX one etc... If you still aren't sure how to flash the Root using Odin after reading that thread, have a look at my tutorial WHICH IS HERE, you need to check out the bit about 3/4 of the way down, underneath all the ========================'s. BUT don't use the file that I linked to in that tutorial, it is only for JPO firmwares, use the one you downloaded from XDA instead.

Hi guys sorry to hijack but was thinking of gtting darkys too after Goots helped with kies reg hack now have XEUJPY,thanks.
this is my understaning so far
need to have 2e,im on 3e so i need CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.zip.
this roots and installs 2e.CF-Root is ClockworkMod compatible, it does not include CWM itself. It uses 2e recovery, which means it can flash unsigned update.zip's, like CWM.
To use CWM, either place the update.zip in the correct location ( /sdcard ), or install it through the ROM Manager application, do i need to do this if CF installs 2e anyway?
Then i need ROM Manager installed, and ClockworkMod flashed,
    then darkeys rom zip?
I know you spend alot of time helping noobs like myself and am greatfull for the time Goots,
    Thanks,Tom.
Is that in the right ballpark

That's pretty much it Tom, but don't get the SDCards mixed up.

Samsung calls the phone memory the "SDCard", and the one you can remove physically the "External SDCard".

When using zip files and flashing from zips and stuff, always put the files you are working with on the internal SD Card (ie, not the one that is removeable).

FYI I never used ROM Manager at all. I did the CF-Root, then installed a standalone CWM, then installed Darky's from within that. But either way should be cool.

That's right, download mode is for when you want to push things from your PC to the phone via a comm port.
