    Froyo Help

    Hey

I recently upgraded to Froyo via Kies (on T-Mobile) to:

    PDA:I9000BOJPB
    PHONE:I9000BOJP3
    CSC:I9000GTMUJP5
    Build Info:2010.11

I have noticed that the phone performance has improved significantly following this upgrade but still noticing some lag on the general use and certain applications. I was looking into some ways that i can improve my phone further? Is there better firmwares that i can flash to the phone? Lag fixes i can apply? Rooting?

If any experts out there could help me with this then it would be greatly appreciated!

    Yes to all.

First have you tried a factory reset. Power off > Vol+, Home, Power > Clear cache > Factory Reset. Phone should restart or you'll need to click restart in the menu, this should help with the lag
Also make backups of what you need (ie: contacts) as it will be deleted. Sd card should be safe.

Better firmwares, try JPY and follow Goots guide or get 2e recovery mode (there is a guide somewhere) and CWM, you'll need to be rooted (also a guide somewhere) and try a Custom Rom You won't want to go back

    Thanks for the reply Doomed.

Another thing i was thinking about was how to debrand my phone as to remove T-Mobile rubbish from it. Am i right in saying that by de-branding my phone, when i run Kies i should get the latest available Samsung Firmware for updating to my phone? If so, whats the best process for doing this? Is this flashing?

To debrand you phone just follow what I said in my above post If you mean 'unlocking' to use other network sim cards I believe there is an app and guide.

If you use kies I wouldn't know as have only used it once and that's when I first go my phone But if you connect your phone and gives you an update available then it may work and may, I mean may debrand your phone, if your lucky.

Even if you go the kies route, make sure that you have the 3 button combo to get into download mode on the chance kies doesn't make it.

I think its best to follow these, if your willing to give it a go

    Cheers for that Doomed.

I am rather wary of flashing as i have never undertaken this before but i am sorely tempted as i really want to get new firmwares without having to wait for T-Mobile.

Since my PDA is running JPB - does that mean i can use the Odin upgrade method to go straight to JPY with the files from samfirmware.com? Then once installed check that my CSC is XEU (as oppsoe to TMU)? The undertake the method outlined in the second link? That would give me an all singing, all dancing SGS?

    Cheers
