Why do we eat them at Christmas?

I do one of those things all year, eat some of those at Christmas and wouldn't touch the other ever!

I have a very good recipe for sugared almonds and it's quick!

Two cups of almonds roasted on a baking tray at 230 deg C until they start to split (~10 mins).
One cup of sugar
Half a cup of water
Two heaped table spoons of cinnamon
One teaspoon of salt

Place sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to boil stirring to dissolve sugar.
Throw in almonds and continue to boil, stirring continually, until almost all the water has just boiled off (~10 mins)
Now throw in the cinnamon and salt and remove from the heat, stirring continually. The sugar and cinnamon mix will solidify but the continuous stirring will stop the almonds sticking together - in about 20 seconds of stirring they will all be dry, hard and separate. Place on baking tray to cool. They go down a storm!

Maybe this could go in a recipe section.

If you gave these to my kids, they would suck them until the sugar was gone, then spit out the almonds. I could then use them for the next batch and so on...

I would of finished them before the first 10 minutes, then moved onto the toffees.

Or eat the toffees before everyone else does then forget about nuts till next year
