Firstly, you can pretty much flash any firmware for your phone model on to your phone. You don't have to go through each version of Android.

    1. Not sure
    2. Depends on which CSC you flash. Certain regions don't have access to certain apps on the market place. Flashing a different CSC to the region you are in could effect the quality of phone calls
    3. No idea
    4. They are not the same version. Samsung release software and then it's distributed to network carriers etc. Network carriers can then put their own software on top of what Samsung has given them.

    5. stop using sum1 and b4 etc.

    1: Yes they are different.
3: As you Rooted download ROM Manager from the market. This will be able to install CWM.

I know its too much but I think its better to clear all doubts b4 starting playing with costly phones.
If only that was true for me

Ha, didn't read 3 properly at all. Doomed is right, I'm on stock JVU (Dec 11) and rooted with CFRoot which I believe has CWM already installed. Also downloaded RomManager

I've never backed up the entire state, luckily only have 2 accounts to sync and 17 apps of which 5 are system apps like Maps.

Hey thnx.. Ok. I dont want to spread confusion so let me simplyfy
1- do I need to flash 2.3.6 bootloader first before upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3.6?

2- is CWM recovery compatible with stock firmwares XXJVU or XXJVT? I've heard people getting trouble after they flash stock rom while they had CWM recovery installed.

3- is it possible to make NANDROID backup with Android System Recovery 3e?

4- can I flash MultiCSC file of my region along with other 2 files of XXJVU but not with XXJVU-OXA-CSC file provided?

I know CFroot-XXJVU kernel is available to root so thats not a problem, yes I also know ROM manager & flashing CWM recovery with it.

    @ Tufftoad
I was talking about the same XXJVU-OXA firmware (odexed).
I also dont care much for backup (actually dont have many things to backup except contacts n music) as long new version is working fine.
So 3- is optional (lol) but do read it properly this time plz.

Sorry if I didn't give you my full attention while working my 9 to 5. I don't mess around with mixing firmwares so will let Doomed confirm things.

    1) Should be part of the firmware.
    2) Yes it is, You just need ROM Manager to install it or as Tufftoad said, use Chainfires (I think) CFRoot, which has CWM built in.
    3) As far as I know or remember No.
    4) I think you can flash a different CSC file, but I'll wait for more ok replys before trying. Just encase.

You won't know if it's going to work properly till you've flashed. I've only ever made the one backup when I first started flashing, don't know why

You will need to make a backup of you EFS folder though. A few apps can do this or use a Root file explorer and copy/paste the file to your SD card, I'd also make a copy of that onto your computer too.

lol, ducking out while I can! Wasn't sure on the answers and he/she sounded like they wanted solid answers.

    4. I was thinking the same, from what I know and heard you can. If things don't work then you can just try another.
