    Anyone on GIFGAF

My years free web and wifi for Iphone, now in my Galaxy runs out at the end of the month, been really good as bought it on Ebay for £25 a year ago.
Looking at my what to do then and I could stay with o2 for £10 a month and get the same bolt on limited to 1GB Web... But I thought this new Sim from GIFGAF looked a really good deal, the calls look cheap too. Does anyone have any experience of them, and what network they use.
    Thanks
    Mart

I have bought an Orange San Fransisco for the daughter for Christmas, and gone for a gifgaf sim on a mates' advice. Maggs69 is right, they do indeed use o2's network.

The £10 "goodybag" ( 250 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet*) deal is perfect for a 13 year old girl

There is also a cool "Auto top up" thing where you can tell giffgaff to automatically top up if the credit is running low, but you can also tell it how many times in one month to do it. Eg, I have told them to top up my daughters account if she falls below £3 credit, but only do it once in a month. If she uses that too, she has to wait until the next month. She's not likely to use much of it at all really, kids these days are all texts and internet, talking is for us old-timers

*unlimited internet is limited to mobile phone not being used for PC tethering.

Got my a Sim for me and my wife, free calls always between GG network, yep on o2, good forum for APN settings on their site and now installed all working on my SGS, so both Sims registered and up and running...have you seen the call costs to other networks...really cheap and proper unlimited internet, not that 500mb crap o2 now sell, which is just two movies a month on your phone...
    Really Impressed.

Hey I know this was posted beginning of the month but Giff Gaff is really good and you simply cant beat the price!! As stated above they piggy back on O2 network, so coverage is pretty impressive.
My partner uses GifGaff in a iPhone4S and has no probs with coverage or with the plan, buy a goody bag and you are up and running.
Although I don't know the ins and out of it - but I believe they pay you £5 for every sim you give your friends and they activate it with a goody bag. One student on their forum supposedly has earned something like £2500+ giving sims away at car booters, via websites and alike... not bad sideline eh?
The Customer Support is only via a forum but they are VERY friendly and helpful with any probs.
If I didn't rely on tethering so much - I would jump ship from three to Giff Gaff tomorrow (their unlimited data plan excludes tethering)

They do operate a rewards scheme for new users. If you were to get your GiffGaff SIM from MY PERSONAL REFERRER PAGE HERE (hint hint, blatant pimpage there) - then I would get 500 points and you would get £5 credit added to your account as soon as you activated the SIM.

It's up to you whether you want to put that £5 towards a goody bag or just use it as normal credit.

The student won't have made actual hard cash, but he will have plenty of phone credit which can be used as cash for quite a few services

(I now have both daughters and the wife on GiffGaff and I'm moving there myself as soon as my o2 contract expires)

Interesting, who told you that? truely unlimited useage on the actual phone but not if you use tethering? seems abit odd to me.

Ive heard of either truely unlimited(even tethering, why not as its truely unlimited right?) and unlimited but with a fair useage policy attached to it.

I have truely unlimited internet on three (all you can eat data as they call it) fantastic speed, infact its faster than my home broadband!!

Ah, things seem to have changed over at GiffGaff

It was a year ago that I made that post remember.

All it says now for the £10 Goodybag is "yes, we are unlimited for personal mobile use - but not for commercial and automated use." which is a bit vague, but they have special "Gigabags" now which are designed specifically for tablet/pc use.

I think you might get away with tethering a small amount, but imho if you used it all the time they would probably pull you up on it, especially now the Gigabag deals are available.

EDIT: This got me interested, so I did a little digging and found this in the terms and conditions..

"4.8. All usage of your giffgaff SIM Card must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not use your SIM Card:

    • in, any other device including a modem connected to a PC.;

    • to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content,

    • or in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other giffgaff customers"
I think that covers the tethering because by doing that, you are effectively using your phone as a modem for your PC/Tablet.

Goots i didnt look at the posting dates hahah.

Yeah i see that it does seem to stipulate you can only use the unlimited net on your phone.

Another reason to move to three, i actually asked them can i tether and they said yes why on earth not!?

    Its all good!
