Possible to get different message alert for SMS and Email?

I can't work out if it's possible to get a different ringtone / beep / whatever for and SMS to an Email?

(In otherwords, I get plenty of unimportant emails to my gmail account - and when they come in I get the same noise as when an SMS comes in. And in fact when I get a calendar reminder.. Which leads to misplaced elation, when I think someone loves me and is sending me a personal SMS - but in fact I'm late for a dental appointment or I have a junkmail from Halfords..)

Any advice?

Hello AAA,

I think if you go into messages, then tap settings (left soft key) and go to settings, hopefully right at the bottom you should see "select ringtones" i think this is for messages only, however have not tried, this could change overall notification ringtones, worth a go....!!

For sms...
Messaging > Menubutton > Settings > Select Ringtone

For gmail...
Gmail > Menubutton > More > Settings > Select Ringtone

For non-gmail email...
Email > Menubutton > More > Account Settings > Select Ringtone
