I usually send them to this pagehttp://linux.oneandoneis2.org/LNW.htm
Android is an open-source software stack for mobile devices, and a corresponding open-source project led by Google. We created Android in response to our own experiences launching mobile apps. We wanted to make sure that there was no central point of failure, so that no industry player can restrict or control the innovations of any other. That's why we created Android, and made its source code open.Agreed, but not totally.. they created a product, a very good product and they helped advancing the smart phone market.2) Apple opened up the smart phone market for the stupid
I disagree.. i think most people are intelligent enough to figure stuff out, but Android advanced so fast and so big, i think most people got into it without actually knowing with it actually is3) Most of the public is stupid, so we should have a big thread for them 'Why Android is not an iphone'![]()
Thats exactly the mentality you HAVE to have to be able to succeed with linux.4) Yes I don't like apple or windows and when I started using Linux I never ever asked why doesn't it do this like windows, only how do I make it work or away like it![]()
Well.. then you made a mistake by buying an android for your parents.. no? especially considering you are an experienced linux user, you shoulda known better no? lolThe reason why I bought an Android phone in the first place was that I bought my parents one and when I keep getting asked 'whys this not working or its not doing this' made me decide I need more time with Android to find a solution![]()
I guess my biggest issue (not even an issue.. just kinda bugs me i guess) is when ppl get involved in something without doing any research and not knowing what they are getting into and then complain because its not what "they thought it was going to be".
Piterski.. exactly, i wouldn't buy a android for my gf either, heck.. i know her limitations and i wouldn't even put a fully stable linux system on her laptop.. i guess its a trade off..i don't get calls every night trying to help her figure out linux work-arounds, but on the other hand, i do spend alot of time cleaning her system up, removing viruses, trogens, spyware... blah blah blah..
Love the naughty puppy analogy![]()
