    upgrading

I a little worried on upgrading my SGS using kies the official way dont want to go the unofficial way. Read lots on here about it doing the phone in etc. Plus also worrying about doing this as I am with orange and we all know what they like for sorting out problems.
Yes its a locked phone and its PDA is jg1

If it makes you feel any better I have done 2 full firmware upgrades using Kies and didn't have any problems at all either time.

Of course. Odin - a tool for flashing, ot like this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808763, my favorite and the easiest.

Can someone post an idiots guide to using Odin (from the very beggining?) and installing Froyo on it and how to do it? It still seems very confusing to me and going "yeah, i use odin its easy blah blah" is not only annoying to those who actually don't think it's easy its a little arrogant too because you know full well it isn't easy to some.
