I have stuck with the SGS - and was elated to hear that the Froyo update was released for the beleaguered Orange users. But it coincided with my phone finally refusing to connect to the PC at all (other than just to charge..). The connection had been intermittent, but now it refuses to connect at all "USB device not recognised"

I've reinstalled Kies. I've tried a different cable. I've tried a different PC. But no joy. Orange's helpline staff were pretty good, to be honest, but sent me on my way to Samsung's helpline. WHO WERE ALSO PRETTY GOOD!! I mean they didn't solve the problem but they certainly sounded like they knew what they were talking about.. So I ended up taking back to my local Samsung repair centre, and I've not seen it since.

It's odd - I had to go back to using my old HTC Touch HD (running windows mobile or whatever, but reflashed to be a bit more up to date..) and I immediately missed the sensitivity of the SGS screen. But after a few days I've started to appreciate the benefits of the old phone.. Like the synchronising by just connecting the phone to the PC without having to start some giant chunk of software like Kies..

Anyhow - I hope I get a fully functioning, updated SGS back.. I do kind of miss it depsite the torrent of abuse I hurled at it..

Recommend to set network to Auto so it can switch between Orange and TMob as it sees fit depending on signal.

I don't think the issue with his phone connecting to the PC is down to the network provider.

And I have.. I don't know how they fixed it, but it now connects to the computer okay, and it has had installed I9000XXJPY which seems to run much better than the JF3 that I had before..

(And no Orange specific stuff installed..)
So thanks to the CarPhone Warehouse people in Bolton..
