    Cool Froyo bricked my phone

I have a Galaxy S and i upgraded to i9000xxjpc with 830 pic file. It ran for a while but at the second reboot i've got a very expensive paperholder: blackscreen that doesn't go away. I tried to boot in download mode and it works. At least I'll be able to reflash it.

Just a bunch of thoughts about the new firmware:
    - The functions are pretty the same but in froyo they are native.
    - It seems a lot slower than the previous firmware (2.1-update1) that should be the latest provided by samsung
    - Address book has been deleted as i was expecting. Apps were still there but in an unusable state (they crash as i try to start them) so a reinstall was needed.

Long story short: i wish i hadn't upgraded, but whene i saw android for the first time i felt like my first day on linux: i had to mess up with it. Now i have this shiny brick and i have to reflash. Feel free to reply with any suggestion or different experiences.

If you can reflash then it isn't a brick

Be thankful you haven't completely bricked it

A friend of mine debranded and flashed with jmc, he says in his words "Its totally mint". He did say though that's its slow but he doesn't expect miracles as its a leaked beta.

BBCiplayer is smooth on 3g but choppy on edge. He did reflash back to jm1 because some of the apps were dead which he uses alot and alarm was 50/50 at working.

I'm going to put on a JM8. Any hints before I proceed? You have 30 minutes

JM7 was good so JM8 should be better.

Even JM6 was very good. I actually really like JPC though too. Sometimes it's a little slow but I'll take that for adobe flash any day. Seriously guys, you have to treat a firmware upgrade like an operating system upgrade on a PC. Yeah sure you can just upgrade it but it will probably run like a dog until you format the SD Card and perform a factory reset. Then re-download all your apps etc. It always runs better that way. I look forward to the next Froyo firmware from Samsung

This isn't looking too good for you I'm afraid mate. Flashing firmware that isn't intended for your phone is very bad, and the AT&T one has caught many people out.

As far as I'm aware, the only way out of this is to return your phone to Samsung and let them sort it out. As you can't get to recovery mode then there is no way to link your phone to your PC and thus no way to flash a different firmware to it.

As of yet, even the really techy guys at XDA-Devs haven't been able to find a fix for this

I would love to be corrected on this so if anyone knows differently, please let us know.

Let this be a lesson to anyone considering flashing an unofficial firmware, RESEARCH it before doing anything. There is no rush, read up and get things right. Choosing the correct firmware is very important, not so much regarding the release version, but it's essential that the firmware is actually the right one for the version of the phone you have.
