Just got myself a Jabra BT3030. Although it is a bluetooth solution it works perfectly for this. It has play/stop, volume up/down, next/previous track and answer/reject calls. Its just a bluetooth module that you connect your own headphones to or you can use the included ones that are not bad. Audio quality is Excellent and call quality is also Excellent. Basically you dont ever have to take your phone out of your pocket unless you want to text or change playlists.

Edit: I'll answer my own question, yes it has a built - in mic. I'm getting one of these for sure - really nice price too :-)

The battery is supposed to last a claimed 8 Hours but since I only just got it I haven't been able to test that claim out. It charges using MiniUSB not MicroUSB so its different from our phones.. it would've been sweet if they were the same so you'd only have to have one charger but really its not exactly a burden. Its easy to find a MiniUSB car charger if you wanted one since they're all pretty universal.

The sound quality is excellent really. I do enjoy my music and sound quality is high on my list of requirements and this delivers. I use this with my Shure SE420s and its great. Calls are loud and clear as well. And yes having bluetooth on will eat at your battery some but i haven't used it for whole day yet so i'll keep you posted about the toll it takes after a full days use.

Heres an update. My phone is at 60% battery with 15hours since unplugged with moderate use including 10.5hours of bluetooth use. Moderate use with calling/texting, 2 hours video over using BT, 8.5hours of audio using BT and about an hour of HSDPA web surfing. So I would definitely say that using the Jabra BT3030 is a very viable solution for people looking for remote audio with controls. And the BT3030 itself lasted the advertised 8 hours.

Sorry for bringing back a dead thread but I also have concerns about media controls. I really hate having my phone out all the time as it makes you a good target for thieves and it looks unsocial. So far what I do is set the screen standby time to 10 minutes, I place it in my pocket with the screen facing outwards. That way I can do a swipe left/right motion on my pocket to change tracks without needing to take the phone out of my pocket. I've tried it so far with my thickest pair of trousers and it works consistently as long as you press hard enough.

To extend on this, I would really love to be able to customize the music screen to take additional commands such as a long tap for play/pause, up/down for volume, and some sort of screen lock to prevent you from accidentally hitting a menu button or something. It would be simple, but I imagine that no such app exists for this yet. I would create it myself but I don't know how... is this possible? If this is out of the scope of this section then I can make it in another section if it would get more suited responses.

Outstanding sound, works, all the flicks etc. Searches, didnt do anything to configure it, just paired it and went on my way.
My Drum and Bass on my phone enver sounded sweeter.
