Almost all the settings in there relate to the camera firmware so i would suspect that changes could effect the way the android software communicates with the camera hardware.....these things are more computer than phone nowadays.
As for the codes...quite handy...managed to get a bit more volume from the speaker in music mode but still the same with video...no idea why the 2 aren't increasing equally.
If you want an easy way to have all these codes with you, without having to remember and enter them manually, download SGS Tools from the Market.
I recently purchased the I9000 and have rooted the phone. Just like my old I7500 the I9000 has the same lousy low volume gain listening to my music. With that in mind I was able to fix the I7500 through the service mode. I totally understood the procedure with the I7500 and was able to boost the gain to 12db. It took a bit of searching but I did find the proper instructions and the "FFFF" code to boost overall gain. That left me satified with the volume on the I7500. Now I would like to do the same with my I9000 phone. Everytime I read or search, I end up with the same issue. I can get into service mode and I am able to find my headset link. From there thats where the I9000 similar features end. All threads show how to get in and find the location where you can boost the gain of the music headset volume but thats it! What I would like to know is the step by step proceedure like my I7500 which was easily found with a search online. I dont want the codes to get there I just want to know what code I should enter when I get to the (HEX) input section. Am I able to use the Galaxy 7500 "FFFF" input code? Is it layed out the same? Is it a longer hex code? Its all great to get into the service mode but how do I proceed from there to get my 12db boost like my Galaxy I7500? HEADSET only. I dont care about any other setting just the headset gain! Am I a newbie not understanding the difference between the old to new phone? I thought I was fairly versed in Samsung custom roms and special procedures to root ect...ect...ect. PLEASE HELP! I cant seem to find that info anywhere!
Oh code list, thanks for the list I have added these to my files for reference.![]()
Without a shadow of a doubt I would recommend PowerAMP because it's worth the money and it wont break the bank balance either. PowerAMP is a powerful interface that I would personally recommend for boosting your music. As you can see from the below picture it has Bass Treble and Volume, with the added bonus of a equalizer with pre-set equalizers or set to your desire.I recently purchased the I9000 and have rooted the phone. Try the trial first to get to grips with the interface which believe me is a walk in the park... it's versatile and powerful. Download the app from your Galaxy S connect to Android Market and then search for PowerAMP or poweramp either way it will find it.
I hope this helps
I couldn't agree more about PowerAmp, it's my favourite app
Another idea for raising the volume is to install the new voodoo Kernel, and also download the Voodoo Control App to go with it. This not only raises volume but improves audio quality tenfold![]()

Samsung Service mode codes: I have used poweramp and yes it does help but the over all volume that Samsung allows to be threaded through the phone to headphones are very low. No matter how much you boost the volume with the Poweramp gain and equilizer, its still not enough for the serious music lovers out there. When Samsung decided to make them I have a feeling they werent expectling people to use the phone for music..kidding...they must have. Thats not the only frustrating thing about the Vibrant phone that I personally have. Even with all the small issues the the I9000M phone has, I believe its one of the best smartphone on the market. If anyone knows how to help me with this issue please do so! Its easy to fix I just want to know how correctly. Also I will try the upgrade to a better kernel like others have mentioned. I just have to find the right place to get it and what is right for me to use with my Bell Galaxy Vibrant (Canadian Version).
The voodoo kernel and associated control app is definitely the solution you are looking for, the sound quality (not to mention volume boost ) is in a different league to the stock one.
Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to say whether that Kernel will work on your model. I'd imagine the best place to look would be XDA Developers.
The idea is you set your music player volume to max, then use the voodoo app to control the actual output volume. This means less noise gets amplified because the original input signal to the Kernel is high.

if youre not on a voodoo kernel and want to get an huge audio boost, you can actually download this app called "Audio Boost 2", it was made a very long time ago, and controls 3.5mm jack output, speaker output, and mic output
