Samsung Galaxy S turns off?

Same thing here, but I only had two restarts over a period of 2 weeks. The thing is I'm a mac user, so Kies is out for me. Or is it? How can I check if there is a firmware update for my phone (orange, Romania)?

I also use a MacI called Samsung and I was told that Kies does not work for Mac. Instead, I should call Samsung on the phone.

I have the same problem with the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant turning off. The only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery for about 10 seconds. It has failed about 17 times for me so far within 3 weeks. I have also noticed that it fails during charging. I was charging the phone for about 4hrs and when i went to see the status, it was dead. so I removed the battery and noticed the phone only charged to 75%, so it stopped everything at that point.

Any ideas anyone?

I have this issue, as well. The phone turns off with no warning, just sitting on the counter or in my pocket or anyplace. You have to longpress the right-side poer button and then it boots up fine. If you use it alot right after that, it works fine. This has happened since I have had the phone for 6 + months. I updated firmware, uninstalled apps, tried to use a taskkiller, and even did a reset. It seems to still happen.

But just this week, I think I found the pattern. It only does the random turning off if the battery is FULLY charged. If I let it drain a bit, then the phone stays on for days if I do not use it or use it a little bit. As long as I do not charge it 1005, the phone is fine. Anyone correlate their issues with my observations? Any ideas to fix?

This is a different problem. The above link is with the phone locking up. This is for the phone turning off randomly and after turning it back on there is no error or battery drain if left off, even for days.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate, recently it started turning off randomly. I see that I'm not the only one with this problem. Any suggestions?

I picked up a Samsung Galaxy S last week. I've got the latest firmware loaded.

Same problem as all of you. The phone most often switches off in my pocket. Last night it hung when as I was installing some apps. Taking it back to the service center this evening.

I've started using my old phone again
