  1. #21
I find after having the phone for just under a week. I can get a day out of with good usage, checking mail taking pics using internet etc.
2 days with moderate use, occasional internet use texting.

So not that bad. Its more link a laptop than a phone lol

had the same problem with the battery life when I first got my phone...before, the battery lasted less than 1 day with minimal usage...i tried everything (changed setting ot brightness, from 3g to 2g, turned of wifi, etc) but still the same result.

what i did was go to the place where i got it and complained regarding the battery life. luckily, they changed my battery with a new one. now, it's better...my battery lasts to 2-3 days depending on the usage.

I use WiFi all the time but I can't see it in the list here: settings-about phone-battery use. Does everyone else have this? And how can I adjust my WiFi timeout? WiFi is on long after the screen times out and goes black.

I also found this advice from another forum. Looks like there is some battery leak with using Wifi Tethering on Android 2.1
I have some advice to you regarding tethering on Android.
Once you start tethering on an Application and on Android 2.1 ONLY, the phone will start eating up your battery until you RESTART it (Restart the phone that is).
This applies even if you have stopped tethering.

How do I close applications. All I have been doing is hit the home key as I am unaware of any other way.

Unlike IPhone, by hitting home button will not close the application, that's because Android are true multi-task platform. To close an application, either use the application's exit menu or use 'Back' button. You can also use Advanced Task Manager (download free from market) to close all the applications that is still running the background.

    hey people

i found this thread trying to work out what to do with my phone's ever-diminishing battery life. when i got the phone (22june) the batt would last me a good few days (and the memory showing on task killer was nice and high), but by this past week-end i was lucky to get a day out the phone and the available memory was waaaay down. restarting the phone seemed to help, but only temporarily.

i noticed though that quite a few apps (including pre-installed ones that i didn't even use) were autostarting up at random times (not just at startup). i kept killing them but they'd be back an hour later.
i downloaded "startup auditor" from market and went through stopping everything that i didn't need. i also set task killer to autokill (on aggressive) every 1/2hr.
so far it seems to working. i'm 15hrs from unplugging and still on 82% (also got a battery meter that itself supposedly uses no resources), and that's with a few voice calls, some texting and a bit of ferreting around the phone to see what's running and what isn't. the memory also seems to be holding fairly high.

    so fingers crossed...

    :-)

Hi, I'm new to android and so far I'm loving my sgs.

Is there away to stop google talk? I noticed in running services it was on so I went into app and turned of auto sign in, but if i check running services every now and then it shows it running! As I never use it I dont want it running in the background.

    Daniel
