Thread: What do the G & E mean at the top of the screen? Anyone?

  1. #1

Question What do the G & E mean at the top of the screen? Anyone?

I am a bit worried that some apps are auto updating in the background as when I use app killer yahoo mail is always displayed as an app to kill - does this mean it is auto syncing? I have turn off sync?

Essentially, I am asking, what do I have to do to guarantee that there are no apps downloading data to my phone while it is idle?

Also, I can't for the life of me find out what the E and G mean at the top of the screen?

    Any help greatly appreciated.....

    Cheers,

You can turn off auto-syncing in the Yahoo Mail settings.
The G and E at the top of your screen display your current network type, GPRS (G) or EDGE (E).

It could be, the only way to find out is to send yourself a email see if it pick it up

Essentially, I am asking, what do I have to do to guarantee that there are no apps downloading data to my phone while it is idle?
You could try turn off your APN as suggest here
or using switchpro widget which recommend by our members

Also, I can't for the life of me find out what the E and G mean at the top of the screen?

    Yes that means HSDPA.

Off topic: I just realized I haven't read the manual yet... That'll be one of my weekend projects. Who knows, there might be something useful in there...
