SGS is REALLY starting to expletive deleted

Ok, after numerous formatting of the SD card to get kies to work, now some apps dont work right now, such as HandCent SMS which kept crashing, which ive deleted now.
But now, I get NO notifications anytime someone texts me.
No lil yellow envelope in corner, nothing... trying to use native messaging.
How can I get things back to normal?!

Also Wifi starts up randomly. Lots of apps are running on startup even though Ive used Startup Auditor to tell them NOT to...

i would suggest either throwing it, or flashing JM5
new lagfix should fix your lag problem too

Yellow envelope = Messaging > Menu button > Settings > Notification Settings at the bottom > Tick Notifications (display msg notification etc)

Have you been flashing lots of different firmwares? I've had no problems with my phone, but then all I've done is rooted it and done the speed hack.

no, no rooting, no anything, the phone is a month old.
trying to upgrade the firmware but am having other issues with that

If it's still within it's 28 day return policy, i'd return it for a new unit, if the above fix does not work for you.
