Samsung Galaxy S 3G problem in Egypt using Etisalat SIM

    Hello.

I've just brought an unlocked Galaxy S over to Cairo, Egypt. My Etisalat SIM does not provide any 3G data for the handset, and I was told by their technical department that as the phone is not available out here yet, (I bought it in the UK) that the settings haven't been configured. I checked with Vodafone, and they too don't seem to be able to provide 3G for the Galaxy.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. Should I just wait and hope that the Galaxy will come to these shores, or is there a clever way of tricking my handset into working with these Egyptian SIMs?

Many thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

The problem is most likely you need the APN's for your Cellular Provider in Egypt. You may want to google something like "APN settings <insert provider name> android" and it will probably come up with the settings you need to configure your Galaxy S.
