I did a little research on the matter and it seemed to point to a modem issue, i flashed XXLFB and bingo... signal problem solved..

I'm really not alone... google S3 poor signal... it's shocking.
I don't think I could return it.. it's not really faulty..
I think some screen shots would be useful.. showing the signal strenght.....

Yes and no.. it resolved the problem up to a point where I have 1 maybe 2 bars of signal.. not what you expect really. It is now back on the software it came with as i made a nandroid when I rooted....

It should work on your e mail, calendar etc.. I think browser is the only instance where it wont swype.

Yes, true..I was thinking more of switching between 2g 3g rather than switching mobile data off.

I did...it's still poor even when whacked up to max brightness..
I roooted my S1 and S2 and went down the custom rom route.. Darky, Miui, team Klang etc so with my 3 i'm staying stock so I can use...

Only one thing I don't like... struggling to see the screen in any thing other than dull light.. any sun at all and its a real struggle.

I think there's money involved, as a Darky user myself I think you only have to look through the forum to see that his input has been minimal recently.. I think he wanted to sell... so it might be...

The banking apps won't work because of the root, they consider it a '' security risk'', glad you're all sorted. I'd packed my S away in preference to my S2 but since I flashed this Rom my 2 hasn't...

The Rom comes pre rooted so no need to go through that process.
