heyyy.. sorry for the late reply but i had to sit back and peacefully do this.
i tried to flash to stock firmware using odin. worked successfully but on rebooting, the apps still force-close one...
but that doesn't explain why all my apps are force-closing constantly.
ok, this just got worse-
I tried a factory reset using the android menu: All the data still residing in the usb storage.
I tried a hard reset using the recovery menu: No data was wiped off. Though...
if i do a hard reset i.e. the clear storage option from the boot menu, will i have to reinstall gingerbread? since the phone originally came with froyo?

Whats the best way to backup apps and backup data (not on the cloud) i.e. messages?
