Thanks for help. Is there a voodoo lagfix compatible with 2.3.4 and flashable with CWM available?
Thanks for all the advice everyone.
All done, flashed from stock JVO to stock JVQ. So far a decent improvement in terms of performance. SNS restarting issue seems to still occur if process isnt...
Apologies if this has been discussed too many times before but just want to be sure before I carry on.
I have rooted my SGS using CF-Root, I have also used Titanium Backup to backup all apps/data....
I havent removed sns, just stopped the process. I do use facebook etc but sns didnt seem to change anything for me, just destroy my battety.
Ashicle, try going to manage applications>running and see if SNS is running, stop that process and see if your battery life improves, seems to have vastly improved mines.
I suffered severe battery drain as described by dgfox after upgrading to 2.3.3 but I let the battery die and fully charge again with phone off and battery has been vastly improved since. I have also...
Other than the Gallery, the phone seems quite quick. Had Voodoo lagfix applied on 2.2, but didnt find the phone needed it on 2.2.1 so was hoping i wouldnt need it now (2.3.3).
Updated yesterday, seems like a fairly robust update so far, only downside I have found so far is that the Gallery is painfully slow compared to what it was on JPY.
Update for anyone interested, wipe data has worked to a certain degree but apps are still dropping settings regularly, around once per day on average.
Next try is a factory reset!
Looks like i may have fixed it. Booted into recovery mode and performed a wipe data cache. So far all seems good, and less hassle than factory reset.
If i dont update otherwise then it has worked...
Cheers stonkr, had seen that thread but there wasnt any responses when i read it.
Will give a factory reset a try tomorrow once all is backed up. Either that or i should just take the plunge and...
Yep, before and after. Everything else has been spot on.
Since flashing to JPY, some of my apps seem to forget settings for no reason. Some apps also forget that i have previously accepted t&c's.
Worst offenders seem to be advanced task killer and...
Ill back Tufftoad, I was on Orange 2.2 and flashed to a fresh 2.2.1 using Odin and was staggered by the difference it made to the phone.
Found it, I used the guide at the following link:

Was written by daveande I believe who is a member on here. Worked a charm for me.
Good...
Yeah i flashed straight over jp8 with JPY firmware from samfirmware.com
Im almost certain it was the following guide i used-
Ill double check the link when at home but almost certain it was...
I havent done the 2e/3e fix but i upgraded to JPY from Orange JP8 and the difference is incredible. Previously had Voodoo lagfix installed but haven't felt a need for it since installing JPY. Also...
Since flashing to 2.2.1 i have had a small problem when scrolling down webpages.
When scrolling the screen turns grey and obviously means i cant see where i am trying to scroll. It doesnt happen...
Cheers Goots,
Kernel was definetly overwritten so should be good to go.
Didnt realise how much orange doctored these phones until i reflashed an unbranded 2.2.1, shame to think how many folk...
Sorry to dig up an old subject, but finally bit the bullet and used Odin to upgrade to 2.2.1 which isn't only a mahoosive improvement but also leaves the only trace of Orange being the small logo on...
Been charged in the past by Lloyds when buying apps from the market. Reason given was that it is an overseas transaction. Agree with Goots that Paypal is the way forward.
Sold the phone a while ago as i hated the touchscreen but still have all the files saved somewhere.
Sorry for the noob questions but whats the best method for rooting?
Have disabled voodoo...
Ahhh....Didnt really want to root if I could avoid it but don't want to take a chance with the phone either. Only phone ive ever rooted was an LG Viewty and that was an eternity ago.
Is there anyway to backup /efs without being rooted?
