I have got the samsung galaxy s3 had to take it back once and now on my second one, but I am having the same problem as the first.

Every now and then when I receive a call or text message it will just vibrate or no sound. I checked my settings and they are all correct for sound. Am I the only one having this problem or is it a known problem. How can I fix it. I have missed a number of calls and text because of this.

Never heard of this before and on two phones? Are you sure your volume rocker isnt too low or set to silent. Put the volume up to max, set the individual tones for ringtone and notifications, make sure silent mode at the top is off.

Check all that they all as you say. It also the tones when touch screen stop found only way to sort it is to lock phone and unlock it.

Whilst it won't solve your problem, using Quicker might give you a clue as to what is going on. It's actually a utility for quick access to the various settings. One of the options is to micro-manage the sound settings individually. You might be able to use it to see whether they are actually being reset and if so which are being changed.

As I said, not a solution but it might spread some light.

The internet is a handy thing, go into Google and type 'Quicker for Android'.

This is starting to be the worse phone I have ever had. I cant be the only person who is having this problem, cos I had it happen on 2 phones, now the only why that i can sort it out is to restart the phone.

Maybe its an app that you are installing......?

When it first happened I hadn't had time to load any on to the phone so wouldnt think it was them but will uninstall the 3 i have installed.

I've also had two S3 phones and haven't come across this trouble.

Have you actually chosen a ringtone for the phone? Also does this only occur when your phone is in your pocket?

Yes chosen ring tone it has happened in pocket but most of the time its been while I been using the phone or just finished and before its locks as I get a text or call it will just go into silence mode. couple of times its happened as I put it on charge and I got a text.

The only other suggestion I can make is that if you go to the dialpad and then press the menu button then settings, there is an option to make the phone ring louder when the phone is in your pocket.

Does the phone actually go into Silent mode, ie the symbol in notification bar changes, or does it just not make any sound but still display the sound icon?

Make sure you do a factory rest after this.

On more than a few occasions my selected text and whats app message alert tones have reverted to the default tone for no apparent reason, I therefore have to re allocate again, not a huge problem but annoying:confused:
Any ideas?
