Hello everyone,,

with the release of the long awaited psx emulator on Android devices; the feeling of nostalgia have strucken the childhood (or whatever your age is :p ) memories of us gamers. Classics such as Final fantasy series, xeno gears series, castlevania series, crash bandicoot series, gran turismo series, the cross over between the two giants capcom and SNK, capcom and marvel, and don't forget the revolutionary game at its time metal gear solid have helped define how the gaming industry would go and how will it shape up.

fast forward 5 years and you get to play those revolutionary 'high-end' games on devices that are smaller than the palm of your hand ahh technology!

now I know most of you including me have rushed and downloaded those classics to relieve the experience but, what a shock! your favorite game is not running on the emulator or it is barely playable. so what to do? should you ignore the issue? should you report the issue to the developer?

well this is the purpose of this thread; it will deal with 3 issues:

1- games that are working smoothly on our devices
2- games that are working but have graphical or sound issues
3- games that are not working at all

The rules are simple, you have to list the games that you had tested with specifying the working condition mentioned above.

lets help the developer by listing all the games that have been tested on the emulator and also it will notify any user about the compatibility of their favorite games with the emulator

Hope that you like the thread and come on let us contribute in the development of this great software by saving the developer's time and testing the games by ourselves ;)

ok guys since i'm the OP I think I should start first, I will list all the games that I've tested in three categories and they are:

Final Fantasy 9 (working fine but there is some sound issues)

crash team racing (graphical glitches, sound disappearing)
tekken 3 (working but not playable, below 10 fps)
resident evil 3
gran turismo 2 (needs further testing)
Command and Conquer Red Alert and Red Alert retaliation (both working smoothly but there is some stuttering in videos)
Bushido Blade 1 & 2 (Graphical glitch: screen is crushed up)
Cardinal Syn - (Slow Down)
Destruction Derby Raw (Slow down)
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen (Sound Issue: music is repeating)
Disney's Hercules (works fine,but there is some sound issues)
Rayman 2 (playable but have some graphical issues)
Tomb Raider 3 (slowdowns, FPS below 20)
Dino Crisis 1 + 2 (Sound is awful but plays well without)
Oddworld Abe's Exodus and Odyssey (Graphical Issues)
Dragon Ball GT final bout (kinda slow)
Tony Hawks pro Skater (Graphical issues)
Resident Evil 2 (working fine, but it lags sometimes)

I only tried Crash Bandicoot 3 and Tekken 3 and then uninstalled as both games were pretty much unplayable. I see they're both in the graphics/sound issue category... So that explains it. I'm gonna give this emulator another try then, gonna download some games and try a few out. And I shall be back with some additions to the list.

Rayman 2 is playable though it has graphical issues,
Tomb raider 3 it quite jerky I'll give them both a worth trying 2

Diablo goes to hell when you go through the Dark passage on the second floor, bummer.

Would any body be able to help, new to andriod and would love to get the old school games on my SGS,

If I download the 'PSX4Driod' can the games also be dowloaded from the market?

No. I can't seen Roms ever being on the market due to copyright laws. Just go to google and search psx roms. You'll find loads. Just bare in mind the legalities of downloading roms that you don't physically own the game for. If you get caught, you're on your own :P

Thanks for your contribution Codibus :D I'm surprised that parasite eve worked for you but it didn't work on my end kinda strange TBH... can you do a favor for me and test out parasite eve 2 please, i really want to know is it a problem with my phone or is it a general problem because if a remember correctly Briggs reported that Metal slug x worked for him but it didn't work for me hmmm...

I think it depends on what bios ur running and what region the rom is.

Tried Final fantasy 8, but has sound issues(graphics seems to be okay, only a few bugs).
Now downloading NFS. Somebody could tell me if X-com is working?!

Tried X-com, for some reason you cannot reach the menu on the left side.

FFVII may not have graphical issues but it does have issues, you can't complete the game using this, once you reach the underwater section it's gameover, or transfer saves to PC and finish that section using the an emulator on the PC, then transfer back to the phone.

This is exactly what I meant. I don't wanna start A long ass awesome rpg where I've spent hours and hours on to get to a point where i can't continue due to emulator bugs.
Please if someone has started FF8 please tell me if it is playable! Don't care much about the sound just if it is "finishable"

Guys I have some good news and some bad news:

The good news is that PSX4Droid developer ZodTTD have updated his app from Vr. 1.1 to Vr. 1.5 :D

here is the changelog from 1.1 to 1.5:

psx4droid v1.4 released. Changelog:
- Fixed many 3D games such as Gran Turismo 2's texturing issues.
- Fixed Final Fantasy 9 bug on load.
- Fixed Final Fantasy 7 submarine bug.
- Vastly improved performance while maintaining compatibility.
- Improved sound quality by removing clicks and pops.
- Loads games through BIOS for improved compatibility.

psx4droid v1.5 released. Changelog:
- Major bugfix release to v1.4. Should be as fast/faster than v1.1 with all the compatibility updates included.
- Fixed a mistake made in cycle counting / timings that made many games slow down to a crawl.
- Sound rendering has been tweaked to give as high of quality playback possible while still maintaining performance.
- Save states from previous versions should work fine, though you may encounter sound playing back too fast.

also there is a lite version on the market for free so you can test your games before purchasing the software :)

now on to the bad news:

unfortunately, there are many games that are still not supported on the list from the second post such as Metal gear solid and Parasite Eve 2 :(

I'll try and contact zodTTD about the compatibility issues but for now please update your app and test the games available on this thread again.

those of you who reported that FFVII is not 'finishable' due to the freeze on Disc 3 underwater level please tell us if v1.5 has fixed the crash!!!
I want to start an rpg knowing that I can finish it :)

p.s I just tested FFVIII with 1.5 psx4droid and can't move anywhere on the world map still making this impossible...:_(

UPDATE.
Games which I've tested on v1.5 which doesn't work
007 tomorror never dies + 007 world is not enough : DO NOT work. Freeze at loading after Sony PS Logo
Crash Bandikoot Racing does not work, Sound but Sony Entertainment CBR's introductory black screen.
Dino Crisis 1 Does not work

Finaly Fantasy VII now FULLY FINISHABLE now on psx4droid v1.5 :p
(can get past the underwater bit)

Running at 40fps best setting for the game and the FMV's :D
with solid sound all the way through

Could you upload the 1.5 update please? Can't update mine as for some reason the market doesn't pick up I've got it and keeps wanting me to buy it again :-(

I'm new to the Galaxy. I've done quite a bit in the week that I've had it and its brilliant. Where did you download Diablo from? I tried from DopeROMS and it just freezes.
