hi everyone
hope your enjoying your SGS's!

i am on the hunt for a new music player app alternative to the already good built in version

someone was telling me they saw a app (on someone elses SGS) that can let you download the tune also but if i can find this it would just be a added bonus!

what are the music players that your using at the moment? or is it best to stick with the built in player?

Hey

I'm using the stock Android player (and I mean the stock Android player, not the default Samsung player)

I've also tried MortPlayer, which was a good player but a bit laggy for me, and I didn't quite like the widget.

bTunes is another one I have tried, and I liked it for its simplicity. But in the end, I felt like the stock Android player was more suitable for me.

There are tons of players, you can search using AppBrain for example... Like so: http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=music+player

Mp3Music has some sort of download feature: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.athene.android.amd

mSpot is a player that apparently lets you upload music and listen to it from any computer or phone http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.mspot.android.aria

TuneWiki is a social media player that shows subtitled lyrics as you listen to your music, watch music videos, or stream songs http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.tunewiki.lyricplayer.android

hello! I will update my thread tonight by listing the best media players in the market (both video and audio players) ;)

In the meantime you can check out tunewiki and mixzing lite for free (awesome apps don't miss them!) and for downloading tunes you cas use 'music online' app and mp3 download pro (I think there is a free version of this app) :D

and for you question yes they are different but samsung music app is waay better than the stock android app both in terms of usability and UI (for example one of the many cool feature of samsung's player is that you can change and pause your music even when your phone screen is locked! try it!)

Not really, no. I just really like the widgets available for the stock player, and I feel that it's smoother to use. Opens quickly, and has good performance. It feels like a light and lean player, much more so than the others I have tried. I don't want advanced features like scrobbling (whatever that is), lyrics, related videos, wikipedia info and so on. I just want to listen to music with a player that does what it's supposed to do.. :) It's just my personal preference.

Also I had a problem with the media scanner scanning for files constantly, sometimes interrupting music playback. I don't experience this issue with the stock Android player.

double twist for playlists...one thing i really dun like is the lack of support for playlists

I really liked the stock player until I've loaded some more music and now I can't sort it by artist cos iget a message that there is not enough space in music database. it's incredibly annoying. Until someone finds a way to fix this I will be using mixzing player.

I downloaded an app simply called music player. It has a nice widget and you can launch the player directly into playing songs as opposed to having to go into a song selection first. It also has an option to pause the music when the earphones are unplugged.

Well, I'm having troubles with the Samsung SGS 's music player too - when using the Artists Tab the playe works great until I interupt it. Then it crashes and seems to unleash a second, or even third, multiple instance that somehow seems to be running simultaneously. When it crashes and demands to be forcibly closed I close it. Then another Music player opens up and continues on ...

BTW, please excuse my ignorance but what is the "stock" andriod music player ... vs. the Samsung Music Player? I would love to try another music playing app ... any suggestions????

Buy Poweramp, it is the best music player I have used for the SGS. Best app I have paid for.

+1 for PowerAmp here too. Full of options, good presets and I like the earphone controls (so I can just plug in my earphones with the phone in its case and the music player kicks in, plus skip track or pause, all using the one button on the stock earphones). I'll get some decent Sennheiser 'phones with button(s) soon as all my Sennheiser pairs have no controls). Built-in tagging, too. It may cost a few £££'s after the trial, but well worth it.

I need to get some quality headphones. The ones I have really don't do the phone any justice in the sound quality department.

+1 for power amp. just tried it and its great, gunna be buying it, one question though... if i buy and decide to reflash the phone, other than backing it up with titanium back up or similar, is there a way to re download it without paying again? otherwise will wait till i get a custom gingerbread firmware on.

Yes, you can either pay for it from their site and you will get file that you can keep to activate again. If not, if you get it from the market just download it again.

Glad to hear you like it. If you are using stock kernel and you are rooted, try using galaxy tuner to add hardware equalizer and adjust audio even more than what is available in Poweramp.

Don't buy PowerAmp until you have tried PlayerPRO (and a to a lesser extent MixZing)

i like poweramp for these reasons..

i can delete a song while playing, it doesnt need to wait for media scanner, it has a widget. does anyone know of another music player that fits the bill? poweramp is annoying with all its popups, it either reminds me im using the trial, or reminds me im using a full version with an annoying popup..
