: SGS 3 S Voice App
RichH 05-20-2012, 11:42 AM Ported from S3 is the new S VOICE app. Details here http://widefide.com/mobile/download-and-install-s-voice-on-any-android-ics-device
I am still trying to install it, let me know how it goes for you guys....
greenman 05-20-2012, 12:20 PM And XDA link here with SVoice on Note.

tuxgirl 05-20-2012, 12:25 PM It works for me, mostly. I can run it, but it's understandably a little buggy, I mostly only can do one thing, then it needs a restart for another command.
However... the voice recognition for my accent (Lancashire) is WAY better than Siri. Seriously. The voice recognition has been pretty much flawless for me and a friend so far, even with TV in the background, whereas on my friends 4S, it barely understands a word either of us say. It takes a few seconds longer, but it is SO worth it.
sferg.410 05-20-2012, 07:38 PM Just to let you know, i tried the S Voice from the S3 software on the F1 Galaxy Nexus S ROM and it didn't work for me. It would work once or twice for simple request and then it would crash and stop working. If i asked it a question rather than a basic command it would crash.
hi,
does my phone have to be rooted? i have a sgs2 on ics
and the mediafire link from the widefide website doesnt load on my phone
i downloaded it earlier from the xda forum which specifies that root is needed but that one failed to install on the phone after download
thanks
RichH 05-20-2012, 07:49 PM hi,
does my phone have to be rooted? thanks
Yes, you need to copy app to /system/apps and boot to install...
oh my phone isnt rooted
i thought it would work on any ics phone as some websites suggest,, guess ill have to wait for it a bit longer :(
RichH 05-20-2012, 07:53 PM My guess is that it will be tweaked over the next few days....
greenman 05-21-2012, 11:54 AM There's a review of the S Voice app on a Nexus here at Android Police:

greenman 05-23-2012, 11:48 AM S2 rom modifier Wanam has also taken a look at the S voice and made some modifications.

Swipermusic 05-23-2012, 12:44 PM It worked on mine for a day but Samsung have now blocked anyone from using it unless they own an SIII.

This Wanam version of SVoice is working very well so far on my S2.

You need to edit build.prop files to read GT-I9300 then it will work again.
greenman 05-23-2012, 01:27 PM Or just install the wanam app via CWM.

Is this only for wanam ROMs?
greenman 05-23-2012, 01:50 PM No, it's for any S2 (although may work on other androids)
Working (surprisingly) very well so far.
No crashes or freezing.
RichH 05-23-2012, 02:11 PM Cool, I'll take it for a spin then....

Yes the dev told me to change the ro product model value to GT-I9300 and I did but it still didnt work.
Swipermusic 05-23-2012, 06:02 PM Or just install the wanam app via CWM.
Just did, works a treat if only she could understand my accent lol.

TBH I have given up on it too. I'm still gonna flash the full firmware though so it should work OK then :)
mik2010 05-23-2012, 08:49 PM Hi everyone
I downloaded SVoice on my S2 which is not rooted but has the genuine S2 GTI9100 ICS firmware. It will not install does the phone need to be rooted? My understanding is that it does not have to be rooted.
Anyone suggest why this will not work.
Thank you
greenman 05-23-2012, 08:57 PM The install is via ClockworkModRecovery (CWM) a root application.
greenman 05-24-2012, 11:52 AM Wanam has released version 1.3 of the S Voice to Fix alarm settings:
http://wanamlite.com/2012/05/22/mod-hacked-siii-svoice-voice-talk/#more-1509
Download here: http://www.xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Samsung%2FGalaxy+S+II%2FWanamlite+Ro m%2FSVoice
I'm finding it accurate and running well, although feel a bit stupid talking to my phone as if it's a mate. LOL

Hmmmm, It won't install for some reason....?
Did you do anything special or just flash from CWM?
greenman 05-24-2012, 02:34 PM Had a problem too in that CWM reported as installed but not in apps. Had a look at site and Wanam says make sure you have enough in sys as it's a big download.
Went to Titanium and made some room.
RichH 05-24-2012, 03:11 PM Made room in "internal storage" ?
greenman 05-24-2012, 05:30 PM I removed Samsung 's Reader Hub and Google + as wasn't using either.
SVoice then installed, and so far so good.
RichH 05-24-2012, 06:38 PM OK, cheers but I got 1.4gb free in "system storage". TB reports my ROM as 100% full. Not noticed before but is that normal?
EDIT: Well now I know that what TB refers to as System ROM is infact the ./system partition, so after clearing all the Sammy Hubs I got it to load up.
Can't see how to get it to load off the home button though as ticking the option does nothing.
Double home button opens the old vlingo and if I freeze that the home button fails to load S Voice.... Needs some more tweaking.....
Pluto 05-28-2012, 11:37 AM Hi Green man yes tried the new modification and it is still a bit buggy as said above it works once then keeps crashing. think is is workth waiting for 4.0.4 to come out as a firmware update, should not be too long now. The flipboard .apk does work and it is fab-u-lous.
Pluto
greenman 05-28-2012, 11:39 AM I love Flipboard too, glad you like it. :)
RichH 05-28-2012, 01:18 PM I found a solution to the double tap on home button by setting the option to load S Voice in Nova settings. Had to set to "None" and save first before going back and setting "S Voice".
