I've just contacted Orange to discuss my impending upgrade to the S3 from my current S2 only to hear that they are delaying the release of their S3 by 7-10 days so that they can perform QC checks.
They plan to check a random number of handsets for faults before releasing their supplies to their stores and online shop.
They told me this is due to a large number of customer returns on a recently released Blackbury piece of crap that had ill-fitting back plates. They apparantly had 2000-3000 customer returns in the first month alone.
I find it beggars belief that Orange would shoot themselves in the foot in such a manner. After contacting Vodafone, O2 and Phones4U they all say that they will definately be releasing their supplies of the S3 on May 30th with NO DELAYS.
So if you were planning to upgrade to the S3 through Orange then be warned - you may hae to wait a while. Personally, I think I'll go for a SIM-free upgrade through Phones4U.

LOL welcome to Orange my friend.
I had the same problems with my first Galaxy S phone.
Phone up phones4U because you can get a better deal over the phone. I got my S3, 24m, 900mins, unlimited texts, 1GB, £33.50pm. I would go with phones4U cause they will always be cheaper than Orange. Take the S2 its free on £26 at P4U Orange has it free on £31.

If the Orange website says that the phone will be delayed then it's likely that it will be delayed. They probably say this to cover their back from all the pre-orders they have to deliver.
At the moment most retailers will be distributing the phone on the 29th and the 30th. If you go into the Samsung store in Westfield you can get it a day early so either 28th or the 29th.
You should remember that there have been 9 million pre-orders (not all int he UK) so distributing the phones will take time. Can guranteee that if you pre-order now you may have to wait a day or 2 extra for the item to be delivered as so many people have already ordered.

There's nothing on the website about the release date.
I don't really mind the extra wait, I just want to make sure I'm home when it's delivered.

Good point, Orange should tell you closer to the time if you order one. I would think that they would assign you a delivery number which you can check with the delivery company, usually they text/email the day before when the package has reached the distribution centre and is ready for delivery.

Ok I spoke with Orange in store and you can pre order the S3 and they did say it would come out for 30th. Still cant pre order online though. If you really want it go Phones 4 U or CPW. You wont get the Orange logo on the back either :D

That's good to know, hopefully arrives on my doorstep on the 30th!
As for the branding, I though all companies put their logo on the back? I've never liked that, especially when you've just paid a ton of money on it, the last thing you want is to be advertising.

Was worried about Orange doing that myself so I went to carphone warehouse, the Orange rep told me 5 to 10 days delivery so I thought something was wrong, its not like Orange are offering anything more than the shops
