Have set up and email account on my Galaxy S and all went ok. Thing is I sometimes get an email notification but can't view the email, it just vanishes and I can see it's still on the server through my pc but it's not appearing on the phone. Other times I can see there are 3 or 4 emails on the server but the phone doesn't see anything. Have got the incoming/outgoing mail servers set up right and the SSL authentication. Gmail is ok but pop 3 just doesn't seem to work. i can switch to imap if that would help?

IMAP is a way better system for your phone. I personally just use the Gmail App rather than the Email App. No config required (apart from username/password of course), it just works.

Edit: sorry I misread your post - you say Gmail works fine. To be honest I haven't tried setting up any other Accounts. I have only used gmail for about 5 years now. But I stand by the comment that IMAP is the better choice if you can try that.

Well I could of course forward some of my pop 3 accounts to my gmail account. In fact that's a much simpler way of doing it but, pop3 email "should" work without resorting to that.

Which email host do you use? Most Email host now support both Pop3 and Imap. You should be able to collect your emails using Imap instead of Pop3 using the same settings.

The different between POP3 and IMAP is, POP3 will download all your emails from your server and remove it from your server (unless you have set to leave a copy on your server). IMAP will only stream the email to your client (in this case is your phone) and will not remove any email from your server. If you have more than one place to receive emails, it is always suggest to use IMAP as it is made for that purpose.

Thanks for that. I did try another email client (k-9) as suggested in another thread but again this seems to work sporadically. Like right now there are two emails sitting on the server but the email client on the phone completely ignores them. Will try IMAP and see if it makes any difference. Will post back and let you know if I have any success.
