My boyfriend has a Galaxy SII and is trying to assign a specific ringtone to my number. It looks really simple and it appeared to set it up when we did it tonight, but when i call his phone it plays the default ringtone instead. If you edit my details in the contacts, it has a different ringtone assigned to me though, it just wont play it when i call! If anyone has any idea what we are doing wrong, we would really appreciate the help! Thank you :)

Make sure the contacts are saved to the phone memory or Google and not the sim

Thanks clax6 :) They are saved to his phone, but it still doesn't work. Could you please tell me how to save them to Google? Thanks in advance :)

I have exactly the same problem. My contacts are on the phone.
I can assign a standard issue ringtone to a contact & when they call it uses that ringtone.
If I assign a sound to a contact then, although it plays the sound when I tap on it in the sound selection menu when it is selected & shows on the contact details, it does not play when they ring, it uses the default phone ringtone instead.
The .mp3 is stored in My files under a folder called ringtones under the usbstorage folder
I would be grateful if anyone can help me out.

Ok...I hate to sound like a dunce, but I'm having the same problem. I have located the files I created in the Ringtones Folder, but when I get a call, I just get the normal default ring. I have set 4 different ringtones for 4 different people but no dice. I also tried to locate the folder with the factory ringtones thinking that is where I should move them too, but no dice on that either. Help??
